Rural Education and Learning for Sustainability (LfS) Core Hub
The Rural Education and Learning for Sustainability (LfS) hub is based within the School of Social and Environmental Sustainability, at the Dumfries Campus of the University of Glasgow. This hub provides research-informed support and activities for teachers working across rural and island areas of Scotland and for teachers with an interest in LfS across all areas of Scotland.
The hub will offer online professional conversations, expert panel sessions and webinars, research briefings, communities of practice, and practitioner enquiry networks to support engagement in research and evidence sharing between teachers and other professionals in education. This activity has two initial aims: 1) to enhance teaching and learning in rural and island settings; and 2) to support research-informed LfS practice across schools in Scotland.
Promotion of rural education: An overarching aim of this hub is to promote the unique and positive features of rural education, while ensuring that the work of the wider Centre for Teaching Excellence is accessible to and appropriate for teachers working in rural settings, including islands.
