Communities of Practice

Communities of practice are formed around particular questions, activities, and/or dilemmas identified in each hub. Communities of practice take a range of forms. Some are physical groups meeting within a research-practice partnership in the local area where each hub is housed. Some are fully online groups that are synchronous, asynchronous, or hybrid in nature. Some exist within another structured learning activity, such as a synchronous or asynchronous course.

Teaching-Focused Research Hub

The teaching-focused research hub facilitates communities of practice that focus on how to locate, synthesise, and use research in lesson planning, teaching, and assessment. The next round of communities of practice will be suitable for educators in leadership roles and will focus on supporting teacher engagement with research. The physical hub develops activities within its existing partnerships in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

Rural Education and Learning for Sustainability (LfS) Core Hub

Communities of practice: Online communities of practice will be developed to provide opportunities for teachers to discuss research evidence, to plan the embedding of evidence in their practice and to share and reflect on their experiences of this in a supportive environment. These will be developed around specific themes within LfS and issues that are central to teachers working across rural and island settings of Scotland.

Gaelic Education Core Hub

Communities of practice: Online communities of practice will be formed, where teachers will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on practitioner enquiry centred around Gaelic education.  Keep an eye out for opportunities opening soon!
