The CVR Translational Hub is an interdisciplinary platform based at MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR), dedicated to transforming cutting-edge virology research into impactful clinical, industrial, and public health solutions. We will drive the translational efforts of the CVR, fostering innovation, collaboration, and real-world outcomes. The CVR Translational Hub spans drug screening, serology, and genomics.

The CVR Translational Hub aims to accelerate the impact of virology research at the CVR by seeking opportunities to:

- Identify novel antiviral and immunotherapeutic targets
- Develop next-generation diagnostic tools
- Collaborate with industry, the NHS, and public health partners to drive translation and real-world impact

CTH - Drug Screening

Accelerate your therapeutic discoveries with our comprehensive drug screening capabilities. We support the development and screening of novel antivirals and therapeutic candidates, enabling early-stage evaluation through to pre-clinical assessment.  Our expertise helps translate innovative research into life-saving treatments.

Researcher in a white lab coat operates a DNA sequencing machine in a genomics laboratory with modern equipment and screens.

CTH - Genomics

Work with our dedicated research team who develop cutting-edge sequencing technologies and advanced computational methods to uncover how viruses evolve, spread, and adapt.  Using next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect and characterise viral genomes to inform the development of diagnostics.  These insights are critical insights for informing pandemic preparedness strategies and accelerating therapeutic development.

CTH - Serology

Our serology research uncovers how viruses cause disease, maps the immune response to infection, and drives breakthrough vaccine development. By building the scientific foundation for diagnostics, surveillance, and immunisation strategies, we strengthen global defences against current and emerging viral challenges.
